Robert A. “Bob” Harrington, 73, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Brewster Place in Topeka. He was born February 27, 1944 in Montague, Massachusetts, the son of Avery H. and Rose (Herzig) Harrington.

Robert was an Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War. He had resided in the Meriden Community since 1972. Robert was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 35 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Robert married Gloria Meinecke on November 7, 1970 in Marysville, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 2013. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and Bill and one sister, Gladys.

Survivors include their children, Aric (Jennifer) Harrington, Brad (Brandi) Harrington and Shawna Harrington all of Topeka, five grandchildren, Savanah, Meagan, Shylee, Alexis, Maysn and one sister, Dorothy Harrington Hall of Westford, Massachusetts.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Calvary Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place in Meriden Cemetery. Robert will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Fund at Brewster Place, 1205 SW 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66611 or to Calvary Lutheran Church, 4211 NW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66617 or to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66614.
