Margaret C. Marcell, 93, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017.

Margaret Clara Coufal was born on March 8, 1924, in Omaha, NE, to John Joseph and Etta Margaret (Yost) Coufal.

She grew up on a farm outside of Troy, KS and graduated from Troy High School in 1942. She went on to work as the sales manager for Montgomery Ward Department Store in Topeka for over 18 years.

Margaret married Howard Alonzo Marcell on September 4, 1943 in Great Falls, MT. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2007.

She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

She was a long-time member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka. After moving to Brewster Place, she transferred her membership to Christ Lutheran Church.

She is survived by daughters, Loretta (Don) Massey, of Topeka, KS, Linda (Ron) Croslin, of Ft. Myers, FL; sons, Gerald Marcell, of Kimberling City, MO, Dale (Judy) Marcell, of Happy Valley, OR; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Marcell; a brother, Clifford Coufal; and a granddaughter, Sarah Marcell.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka.

Service details will be posted as soon as they become available.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka.

Private burial will take place at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
