He was born on December 24, 1936 north of Nickerson, KS. He graduated from Nickerson High School in 1955.
He went on to enlist in the United States Army. Bob met and married the love of his life, Ann (Carter) Mummey while serving in Fort Jackson.
The couple was married on January 12, 1958 in Columbia, SC. They went on to make Kansas their home.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a big heart, and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Mummey, Topeka; children, Darlene Rumsey, Bob (Kelly) Mummey, Jim (Tina) Mummey; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Allen Mummey, and Lula C. (Gregg) Mummey; and a sister, Alice Darlene Johanning.
Bob will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Lakeside Recreation Pavilion in Nickerson, KS.
Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson.
