Arvagene was born September 12, 1931 in Vinita, OK, the daughter of Robert D. and Mary A. (Tippett) Trickey. She graduated from Vinita High School in 1950 and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK.
She taught elementary in the Seaman School District for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
Arvagene married James L. Helm on December 19, 1953. He died April 12, 1993. Survivors include son, Chris (Julie) Helm, Topeka; sister, Bettie (Marshall) Price, Topeka, brother, Robert D. (Martha) Trickey, Jr., Portland, OR; grandchildren, Jamie and Christina Wolf; niece, Helyn; and nephews, Andrew, Robbie and Todd. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Helm in 1978.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
