Bertha "Bertie" Hassler, 94, Topeka, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017.

She was born October 14, 1922, in Lexington, Missouri, the daughter of Oliver and Lifie (Fairchild) Moffett.

Bertie was the financial secretary for Topeka High School retiring after 23 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church for over 50 years where she was also a member of the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class.

On August 17, 1941 she married Bill Hassler. He preceded her in death in 1991. Bill and Bert lived in Raytown, MO until 1961 when his work moved him to Topeka. Bertie was in front of the TV anytime there was a KU basketball game or a Royals ' baseball game. She commented during this KU season the Jayhawks might be the cause of a heart attack and if so, she wanted that noted. Her greatest love was being with all her family and cooking and baking for others.

Survivors include three daughters: Judy (Doug) Hall, Sue Hassler, Sherry (David) Lundry; eight grandchildren: Jeff Biege, Stephanie Hall, Allison Phillips, Ashley Smith, Jacob Glidewell, Megan Holcomb, Hannah Ozkal and Kellen Lundry; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren

Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at First Christian Church. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
