She was born May 14, 1928, in Eudora, Kansas, the daughter of Ralphal and Magdalene (Gutierrez) Huerta.
Mary worked at King Radio and later La Siesta Foods where she retired.
Mrs. Garcia was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Lawrence and Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Topeka.
Mary married Frank Garcia on November 10, 1944 at St. John’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by four children: Rose Ayala, Frankie Jr., Lanny and John Garcia and one sister, Margaret Villegas.
Survivors include five children: Chris Garcia, Debbie Garcia, Tina Garcia, Ruth Torres and Mark Garcia; two sisters: Terry Gallegos and Jenny Barajas; 29 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church, 1229 Vermont Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Lawrence.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm on Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where the family will receive friends until 8 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Association, 608 West Douglas Avenue, Suite 100, Wichita, Kansas, 67203.
