Richard "Dale" Wolfe, 81 of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017.

Dale was born March 4, 1935 in Hamlin, KS the son of Clifford H. and Rhea B.(Moon) Wolfe.

He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1954.

He was a PFC in the Army National Guard form 1953 to 1959, serving as a sharp shooter, radio operator and driver. He attended Highland Jr. College for two years, moved to Topeka in 1957 and was hired by Elmont Grade School to teach fourth and fifth grades. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washburn University and his Masters degree from Emporia State Teachers College and taught school for twenty seven years.

Dale and Jane were united in marriage on February 20, 1958 at Elmont United Methodist Church. Dale loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice. He played guitar and sang in the Elmont Opry for over twenty years and attended the Elmont United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David D. Wolfe and Edward A. Wolfe; two brothers-in-law, Erman Christensen and Darrell Stephenson and sister-in-law, Shirley Wolfe.

Survivors include his wife Jane of the home; a daughter, Pamela Phillips(Eddie); two sons, Philip Wolfe(Cindy) and Kevin Wolfe(Susan); two grandsons, Shawn Phillips(Samantha) and Austin Phillips(Kaetlynn); two great grandchildren, Brylee and Emerson; two brothers, Robert G. Wolfe and Stephen P. Wolfe(Judy) and three sisters, Doris Christensen, Phyllis Stephenson and Barbara E. Larson(Jim) as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka, KS 66608, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW. 21st St, Topeka, KS, 66604 or to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
