Mary graduated from Marysville High School. She owned and operated a home day care for many years. She was a member of Topeka Civic Theatre and was a Chiefs Season Ticket holder for many years. She and her husband, Jerry were noted for their famous (infamous) Willie Nelson 4th of July parties at Lake Perry. They traveled the country in their fifth wheel.
Mary married Gerald E. “Jerry” Schwindamann in April 1966. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2001. She was also preceded in death by one son, Craig L. Kaiser on February 16, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Charleen Kaiser of Wichita, Jeannine Wettengel of Topeka, one son, Christopher T. Schwindamann of Topeka, two grandchildren, Ryan (Tanya) Wettengel and Neil Wettengel, four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Lauren, Aiden and Kailey.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mary will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Topeka Civic Theatre, 3028 SW 8th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66606 or to the Helping Hand Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
