Dorothy R. Rabe, 97, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Homestead Assisted Living in Topeka.

Dorothy was born October 20, 1918, in Ottawa, the daughter of Roy and Greta (Courtney) Lamm. The family moved to Topeka in 1932 and she graduated from Topeka High School in 1936.

Dorothy retired from Menningers in 1982 after 21 years of service. She volunteered for the Topeka Police and Shawnee County Sheriff's departments for 20 years.

Dorothy married Eugene “Gene” Rabe on July 3, 1941. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ron on January 14, 1996 and her only brother, Frank Lamm on March 19, 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Hunter and Sandy (Bob) Weibel, both of Topeka; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Topeka, KS 66604 or the charity of the donor's choice.
