Patricia Ann Cross, 85, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Midland Hospice.

She was born August 14, 1931 in Topeka, the daughter of Albert and Mary Carlson.

Patricia attended Topeka public schools, graduating from Topeka High School in 1949. After high school she worked for several years at Hallmark Cards, during which time she met and married William C. Cross.

The couple moved to Wichita where Patricia worked for McCormick Armstrong and Boeing as a graphic artist. In 1970 they returned to Topeka and she obtained her nursing degree, fulfilling a lifelong dream. For the past 28 years Patricia worked under the guidance of Dr. Chu Chi Chen at several urology clinics.

She loved gardening and sewing and was also fond of refinishing furniture as well as home improvement projects.

She is survived by her children; daughter Shauna Cross Hastings (Michael) of Galena, IL and son Robert Cross of Lawrence, KS; three grandchildren, Cevan Cross-Hall, William and Olivia Hastings; a brother, Charles Carlson and two sisters, Helen Compton and Sandra Morris(Frank).

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Cross.

Mrs. Cross will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604, with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
