Carolyn graduated from Waldo High School and attended Fort Hayes State where she earned a Teaching Certificate. She taught in Russell County schools. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Kansas Engineering Society Auxiliary, a life-time member of the Women’s Kansas Day Club, a member of TARC and Sheltered Living and the Washburn Walkers Club.
Carolyn married Harold C. Hibbs in 1937 at Russell, Kansas. They moved 13 times prior to moving to Topeka in 1942. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1973. She was also preceded in death by their son, Bruce Hibbs and her four siblings.
Survivors include one son, Roger (Janet) Hibbs of Topeka, one grandson, Greg (Cindy) Hibbs of Edmond, Oklahoma, two great-granddaughters, Clara and Grace Hibbs of Edmond, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Highland Park United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery.
Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Emergency Fund at the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66605.
