Herman “Olin” Remmert, Jr.

Herman “Olin” Remmert, Jr., 78, Topeka, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Midland Hospice House. He was born July 24, 1938, at Council Grove, the son of Selinda Jane (Casselle) and Herman Olin Remmert, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: David Remmert and Linda Dugan.

Olin had worked at Munns Medical Supply; later working as a local truck driver and member of Teamsters Local #696. He was a 50-year member of West Side Christian Church, having served as a deacon. Olin was a ten-gallon donor for the Topeka Blood Bank.

Olin was married to Rita Marie Blomberg on May 29, 1960, in Manhattan.

Surviving are his wife: Rita Remmert of the home; daughters: Julie Helms (John) and Jeanne Jones (Jim); grandchildren: Alexandria Helms, Christopher Helms, MacKenzi Jones, and Zachary Jones, all of Topeka, Megan Eddy of Fayetteville, AR, Mallory Eddy of Starkville, MS, and Amanda Griffin (Tony) of Leavenworth; and a sister-in-law: Sharon Remmert Butler of Manhattan.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 19, 2016, at West Side Christian Church. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.

Olin will lie in state from 3:00 to 8:30 PM, Thursday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM
