Mary Ann was born on October 3, 1929, in Elkhart, KS, the daughter of Floyd Edwards and Lois Scott Edwards Withrow. She graduated from Mystic High School in Mystic, Iowa in 1947 and attended Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, IA. She married Ben J. Mills on July 7, 1948, in Centerville, IA. They moved to Topeka in 1958, and she began working for Topeka Christian Academy in 1974 and retired in 1989. Mary Ann was a member of Christ’s Church in Topeka.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Hazel Strever.
She is survived by her six children, David (Sharon) Mills of Fredonia, KS, Paul Mills of Topeka, KS, Stan (Vicki) Mills of Topeka, KS, LaDana (Stan) McDaniel of Independence, MO, Jennifer (Greg) Friend of Fredonia, KS, and Debbie (Mark) Thomas of Auburn, KS; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; four siblings, Harold Edwards of Montezuma, IA, Ralph Edwards of Scottsdale, AZ, Malacha Hall of Caňon City, CO, and Rachel Morrow of Moline, IL.
A funeral ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
