Barbara (Carlson) Berggren, 66, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at her home in Topeka, KS.

Barbie was born April 29, 1950, in McPherson, KS, to Lawrence Magnus and Elizabeth (Ward) Carlson. She graduated from Topeka West in 1969. She graduated from Bethany College with a bachelors in business administration and with a minor in psychology. After college she went to work for the KBI as a public service administrator until her retirement in 2010.

She married Robert L. Berggren on August 6, 1983, at First Lutheran Church.

Barbie was a member of the mission church St. Thomas Lutheran that later merged with First Lutheran where she remained a member. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter GK for many years. Barbie loved to sing, play the flute and the piano.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barbie is survived by her husband, Robert L. Berggren of Topeka; one daughter, Brianna Berggren; one son, Justin Berggren; one granddaughter, Shyanne Adams; and sister, Ann (Bob) Delach, of Tampa, FL.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at First Lutheran Church, 1234 Fairlawn Road, Topeka, KS.

Barbie’s ashes will be scattered off the Santa Monica pier.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church or Polio Survivors Association, 12720 La Reina Avenue, Downey, California 90242.
