Norman "Cowboy" Richman, 81, Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016.

He was born May 9, 1935, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Harold and Melinda (Martin) Richman.

Cowboy was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Cold War, Vietnam War, Korean War and Cuban Crisis. He was the Sr. Controller at Forbes Field for the 90th Strat Recon Wing and 40th Bomb Wing. He later was Sr. Controller at Offuit Air Force Base. He retired as a SMSGT on February 1, 1974.

Cowboy was a member of the American Legion Post No. 198, Osage City and V.F.W. Post No. 2709, Scranton.

On September 4, 1955 he married Delores "Dee" Helstrom at the Chapel on Forbes Field. She survives. Other survivors include his children: Norman Harold Richman, Jr. and Sherry Poling; grandchildren: Brittany Richman, Aubrey Richman, Dalton Cox and Jordan Poling, all of Topeka; siblings: Delos Richmond, Nancy Kline, Wanda Winan and Gary Richmond.

Cowboy was a loving and caring husband, father, papa and friend. He never met a stranger.

Funeral services will be 11 am, Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Topeka Baptist Church, 4500 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Osage City. Visitation will be from 6 pm - 8 pm, Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel.
